Why Do Online Games Lag On Mac
Aug 17, 2009 Computer lag when gaming I'm experiencing a computer lag when playing video games - not just one particular but several different ones have done the same thing. It's not just in game lag, every program I am running becomes choppy and lags. I've defragged, done registry checks, scan the drives for errors, run spyware, antivirus, and other cleaners. We should emphasise it is safe to do this for games consoles but not other devices; see our linked article on DMZ for a full explanation on why this is the case. Test Your Hardware – Your Router, Console and Ethernet Cables. Another thing to do to try and find the source of lag is to test your devices and equipment out. Anyways, I experience a lot of lags and performance issues while playing them. They run nicely on my friend’s computer (heavy specs).
I was under the impression that online flash games aren’t very dependent upon the user’s hardware as they are supposed to be playable from any PC that has a flash player.
Is there anything I can do to increase the performance somehow (with upgrading my PC of course)? Please advise.

You can also try using CCleaner or Glary Utilities to clean up flashplayer and shockwave clutter, use it at least once a day to help out. Try getting Game Booster from IOBit to automatically turn off services and features for you to get a little better performance. With an older processor with an older graphics adapter, flash and shockwave items will be slower.
Here is a guide you can use to see if you can push a little bit more performance by disabling unnecessary services: http://www.blackviper.com/service-configurations/black-vipers-windows-xp-x86-32-bit-service-pack-3-service-configurations/. Good luck!
Well, Flash games can run heavy on the hardware depending on what is going on within the game.
In most cases Flash doesn't run hardware accelerated. That means all calculation including the graphics is done by your CPU. If your CPU is weak and the game has a lot of 'action' going on it sure can result in lags ~ especially if you run in full screen.
From the few benchmarks out there it also seems that Flash performs best in Firefox and Opera. Using one of those browser for Flash games might help.
It is also a good idea to separate flash from regular browsing e.g. using different browsers or simply just do one or the other (by closing all other browser tabs).
Like the others said: make sure your drivers are up-to-date.
Also make sure that your java and your flash player is also up-to-date!
If possible then upgrade your computer or buy a new on! :)
Hello, lags do not necessary have something to do with the computer itself. They can be caused by a slow internet speed. Make sure to clean cache in your browser and then restart it. See if that makes a difference.
Make sure that all your drivers are up to date and also it is very important that if you are playing games online, do not have any other browser windows open. What kind of performance issues are you getting?

Hey Fidelis, thanks for the reply.
Heavy flash games like those on Kongragate or games like burrito bison revenge usually become slow on certain instances while playing. Another example, while playing pool on Omgpop, the break, usually slows for a split second.
I am pretty sure that the drivers are up-to-date and I have the latest flash player installed.
Hello, have you made sure to also update shockwave player? Sometimes it makes a difference.
uninstall adobe flash player and shockwave player, then clean your windows with CCleaner, or Glary utilities or other registry cleaner if you have, then reinstall.
if the same problem then try
– go to youtube and open a video to play
– right click on player
– click on settings
– uncheck hardware acceleration
– restart your browser and try playing the video againyou can also update your graphic card driver, if you cannot find a suitable driver, then go to device manager locate the video card then riht click on it and choose uninstall then reboot and let windows to reinstall a new one. Or scan your windows with driver easy to detect updated driver.

to do compatibility install right click the installer>properties>compatibility>check XP (SP3)>install it.
you may have to do it in safe mode?I don't recommend cleaning the registry. I've run into so many issues with cleaning out the registry. Which is why I don't do it anymore. However, make sure it's completely up to date, along with drivers.
